On Saturday, I went to the Crafty Bastard's arts and crafts fair. It was a crazy eclectic mix of mediums, all made by artists instead of just crafters. From monster purses to shadow puppets to mean cards and jewelry made out of nuts and bolts, this was a rockin arts festival. Many cities have first Fridays, where galleries open all over the city on Friday nights, bands come out to play and you meet the most interesting people. Try tapping into this already organized shindig in your local area.

What's all this left-brained, right-brained stuff?
As a creative person, I spend most of my time trying to exercise my right brain. There's something freeing when your creativity opens up and something new comes tumbling out. But as creatives, we often neglect our left brain. Believe me, I'd rather keep it that way. But I find myself forgetting things - things I once knew, or even things I just learned. So I think it's time for a little exercise, Ms. Left.
Try out some new hip hop moves.

The monsters are lurking
I'm not so hot about people who think their lives are interesting enough for everyone else to spend their time reading about it. But alas, I'm beginning my own blog. Here goes.
A lifelong ambition I have is to encourage those around me to create. Stop. Relax. Be yourself. Don't be afraid to journey to that secret place inside where magical things happen. And when you find that tiny glimmer amidst the darkness, remember to trust others with its keeping. By doing so, they might be inspired to find their own bright shining star on this road we call life.
Today my snack for you is a blog called the Daily Monster where you can watch Stefan Bucher draws a new quirky monster each day.
